I hunted saterday morning in stevenson al. and almost got a shot at a pybal deer "if I am spelling that right". Any way it was very neat to see her, wish that I could have got an arrow in her though. To the best of my knowledge that is only the second time that I have seen one in the wild, but it is pretty cool.

They are some wicked looking deer, aren't they? A friend of mine shot one several years ago and had it mounted. He also hit another with his truck, and got the head of it mounted. LOL

Gang, I hate to rain on your parade but I think in TN those are protected and if you do shoot one you had better hide it. Good thing you did not get that shot. Look in the newest G&F regulations and I believe it says that you are not to havest any of those or albinoes this year. Maybe Rsimms will chime in here, he seems to keep up with all of those regulations better then me but I am almost sure I read that in there this year.:( Jmax

you know JMax I think you are right. I also recall reading something about that. I don't read Alabama's rules though.

Yep .. better safe than sorry. Please check!!!

TT

This might sound like a fishermans tale but up in the Dale Hollow state park on the KY side there is a huge herd of piebald and albino whitetails. They aren't dumb!! When huntin season starts up they move enmasse into the state park where there is no hunting. Going down to the boat launch for some night fishing we turned a corner and the headlights swept across them and we had to just stop to see if we were seeing what we though we saw. I think they might be protected in Ky as well

Some of you guys may not have seen in my thread but I was hunting in Alabama. I do not know for sure but I think they are legal game in Alabama, and I hope to get a chance to take a crack at her I think it would be really cool to kill one. And thanks for the pic Tennessee talker that an awesome. emoToast

I see Cheez got to it before I. He is correct in TN only, the "smart" folks have decided that an Albino, which is a genticly retarded deer, not a special breed or anything, is such a special creature, you cant harvest one.

He is aslo right, that a piebald is legal here. Ga, and AL you can take any you see fit. Another crazy difference from state to state, is you cant shoot spotted deer in AL, but you can in TN and GA. GO figure

Hey mkilgo if you do get one post a picture please and let us know. Cheeze, thanks for clearing that up. I was not sure but I knew I read something about them.emoThumbsup Jmax

Not only are they genitically retarded the more of them in your herd the more will fall to preditors such as cyotes; because they are so visable. Which means less fun for us. I personally think that white deer, and piebald deer should be fair game to hunters in every state.
