I was talking to Phil today, at Pro Lures, and I had purchased 2 bags of 2/0 Gamakatsu G-Lock hooks. I asked him if he could get them in 1/0, and he said that after his supply of those 2/0 and 3/0 were bought, he wasn't going to carry them anymore. I ended up buying 4 bags of the 2/0 and 2 of the 3/0, and I am not sure how many he's going to order of the 1/0.

To me, I get the best of two worlds.................the sharpness and dependability of the Gamakatsu name, but the design and look of a Mustad hook.

My question is............why aren't more anglers using these, and why is Phil having such a bad time in anglers buying them? Are anglers too used to the Gamakatsu Offset hooks, that they don't give these a chance?

By the way, a 2/0 G-Lock fits a Smallie Beaver right nicely.

Could be that folks buy what they know. I personally have never heard of them. If I saw them while shopping, I would consider them and not just go with popular named hooks.

I love the 2/0 G-Locks. They fit all 2"-3" flipping baits perfectly and the soft plastic easily rides up the shank on hookset. I've also noticed that the G-Lock serves as a better keel than standard EWG hooks and prevents tubes and craws from spiraling as much.
