Im needing a new cranking batteries and ill prob end up getting new trollin batteries as well and i remember reading a post about a place i think in hixson that sells blemish batteries. Does anyone know of this place or a place similar to what im talking about?

I get mine at the Interstate outlet store on Shallowford rd by the airport. I don't know about a blemish store in Hixson though.

That sounds like what im talkin about. I do know it was an interstate battery place. Do you know the name or a phone number by chance

I had heard that blemished batteries were available at Interstate on Shallowford Road, but they told me these batteries were not the same quality battery. I bought all three of mine there last year and have been very pleased with the performance.

I got three new batteries at Interstate on Shallowford also. Two trollin and one cranking. I've only had mine for about four months now so I can't say anything about the life of them but I can say they charge up nicely and stay charged for a good long time when out on the water.

Ive been very happy with my interstate batteries. They seem to hold up real good and since its dark early and I have to fish after work Im good for two to three trips before a charge.

Interstate batteries..next door to the cemetary. Have used them many times. No complaints.

OK I'm going against the grain here but let me say this
Today's motors have a much lower tolerance for low voltage. ESPECIALLY an Optimax
Mercury has tested several batteries and found only a few that meet their voltage requirements
Interstate is not one of them

Save yourself the headaches
Pony up the money for a Sears Die Hard Platinum 31M
they are some of the best batteries made for marine starting
I had a brand new battery fail me several times after a day of fishing
never happens with my Sears die hard platinum
that includes running live well pumps, electronics, and lights in the AM

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but all Sears Diehard batteries and all Interstate batteries are made by Johnson Controls. Could be made to different specs I suppose.

What brand does Mercury recommend for the Optimax? I'd like to see that article, but haven't been able to locate it.

Here is the link to the Merc battery recommendations for Optimax engines.
http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=346429-batteries-that-meet-the-requirement-this-just-in
Batteries that were recommended are as follows:
(Testing and information courtesy of Mercury Marine Research & Development)

-Odyssey PC1500, PC1700, PC2150 and PC2250.
-Optima Group 31
-West Marine Sea Volt Group 27 AGM.
-Cabela's Advanced Angler ** Group 24 and 27.
-Trolling Thunder TT1175 and TT1370.
-Excide Megacycle (Mercury Brand) MC-31 and XMC-31.
-Sears Die Hard Platinum 34M (PM-2) and 31M (PM-1).
-Deka Sea Mate 8A27M and 8A31DTM.
** During initial testing, these batteries do not meet their advertised cranking ratings.

I run the Odyssey PC2150. It is a group 31 AGM. I believe the Sears Platinum 31M is it's equivalent and may be more readily available. Bottom line, you need a battery with at least 1000 MCA's and a lot of RESERVE CAPACITY to power your OPTI and the electronics, pumps, power poles, etc. It's going to be BIG and heavy.

thanks jbh3
I was out shopping and didnt see the reply

This is the article I used to form my opinions on batteries
Don Weed is well know on BBC and a super guy
