my new trolling motor came in today and the battery cables are too short. The question is Where can i buy extra cable from here in chattanooga?

Find an old trolling motor and get as much wire as you need from it, butt splice or solder the wire onto what you have, tape or shrink wrap the joint. Then you are good to go. I doubt that you will ever find that type wire in a electrical supply shop.

You can get wire at home depot , lowes, ace hardware, wire really isnt the issue, why do you need longer wire, if its a foot control and you just upgrading your previous wire should be all you need, that and what came with motor. If by some weird circumstance you do need longer power cable, your better off to remove the orig cable and replace the orig cables with longer cables, and dont just add on some make sure you buy cable that is at least as big as what came with motor, but bigger is ok too

My old troll motor broke so i bought a new one. Its a transom mount, but i turned the power head around to mount it on the front of my boat. I need enough wire to run it from the front, all the way to the back where i store my batteries.

Go with at least a 10 gauge wire , 6 or 8 even better, but better yet is to move you battery closer to your trolling motor, so you dont have so much drop in voltage, make sure you seal the crimps from the added wire to trolling motor, dont want water getting in there

Hogger I see what you have done now, do as big fish says and run a heavy wire from the back where your batty/batteries are at, I would run a #6 if I was doing it. You can wire this into a matching plug/disconnect and you can remove the troller when you want by just unplugging it.

When I was re-wiring my Cajun, I looked everywhere for 6 ga tm wire. I finally found it at Boaters World. They sell it by the foot, buts it expensive. Figure out how much you need before you buy, every foot costs. They also have the proper size wiring terminals, circuit breakers, and switches if you need them.

You won't have to run trolling motor wire from the back to the front. These connections will be sorta solid, I would still use stranded but maybe not the fine stranded, this is used because of a lot of flex that can happen in a boat. Most trolling motor mfg. say to use #6 if the wire coming with the trolling motor isn't long enough. You could probably use #6- 2 conductor SO cord from Lowe's or Home Depot, it is waterproof and flexible. I have heard that copper is at an all time high and any wire of this size will be expensive. My 2 cents worth.

I just got my trolling motor mounted and wired. Works great! Went to boaters world first and they didnt have any 6 or 8 gauge wire. So iwent to home depot, they were out of 8 gauge also. Ended up geting it from lowes and i decided to run the battery up front in my storage compartment, "4 feets worth", Versus buying 15 ft at almost $2 a foot. Got the battery lugs at autozone.emoThanks for the advice!
