Ok, so I love to fish, for all types and sizes. I love everything from Bass fishin, to Cat fishin, and really love me some panfish.

But out of all the fish I catch, I only really like to eat panfish.

So now I see TWRA is raising the creel limits on spots because of what they do to the LM and SM populations. I don't eat bass, but would love to catch me some large LMs from time to time. If I don't eat, I don't take... What can I do to help?

Remember, the limit is still 5 bass / angler. 2 fishermen can take out 10. If the recommendation passes, it won't go into effect until March 1st 2008.

You really should fry up a mess to find out what you are missing. If you don't want to keep them, give them away to someone at the Riverpark. There are always folks fishing from the piers that will take them. If you have 10, make sure there are 2 fishermen together. If you give 10 spots to 1 fishermen, he is in violation of the creel limit.

If you want to be extra nice like me, have some 68 cent (Walmart) stringers and string them up as you get to the ramp. That makes it easy for you and for the person you are giving the fish to. A couple of times, I have stopped on the park road, grabbed my stringer and ran down to the pier to give my fish away.

Please understand I'm not talking about keeping large >12" spots. I don't want to encroach on the Tx fisherman's territory. There are plenty of 8-11" spots to go around. An 8" spot has more meat on it than a 10"crappie.

BB if you take a limit of Spots and fillet them out, cook them the same as you do your panfish you will be a convert. To me they are as good as Crappie.
