Quick Pre-BATTLE Cat Report 8-5-2006

Headed out today with Melvin and JC from Texas. Fair morning... caught three fish, 12, 14 and 19. (no time to download pics today) Broke another good fish off on a bad knot. Got to watch another boat catch a 35 and a 15. Young man named Austin helped Dad reel him in. We weighed the 35 for them. Austin was a happy young man. Slow big fish bite but there's a few to be had. Some of you know where. We ended the morning with a few hard-fightin' channel cats and small blues up beneath the turbines. Got one on-the-water report from a fellow who said "the catfishing was great in the lake two weeks ago, but they've turned off now." Another fellow told me, "if you want to catch the big ones you need to go up in the lake right now." So go figure ... the fish are where you find them. Saw drc catching bait for tomorrow.

Good luck in the cat battle! Ya'll will be weighing your megapixels while my oldest "baby girl" (Priscilla) is getting her Nurse Practitioner diploma... walkin' across the stage into the great big bad world of grown-ups. I'll be thinkin' about you.

 I took my son and "danger ranger" (in photo) out to look around this AM as well.. caught 19 fish, this was the biggest we could find.

Rsimms, I know ya'll caught more than three fish! It seemed like every time I looked up one of those guys had a fish on. You three probably caught more catfish than I caught skipjack. I'll be fishing on the lake, Richard has already put the "sore mouth" to all the cats below the dam. I also bumped into Fishinvol who was also catching bait and hepled me fill my cooler, thanks again Chris. I'll see you guys tomorrow at 12:30, hopefully with a camera full of big blue monsters.

nahh... the picture is decieving: he's unusually short (and so is the fish heheheharhar).  Maybe 30.

I meant "three" while we were fishing for "big fish". I never count the fish we catch drifting turbines... I have a hard time counting that high. emoBigsmile emoBigsmile emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

Tomorrow should be very interesting. Seems like the lake guys are catching a lot of big fish and Richard has been dogging the fish below the dam pretty hard. I plan on fishing below the dam anyway as I have a few spots that don't see a lot of action and after all you only need one good fish to win. My bet is it will take 30+ to get in the money so I will have to catch a personal best to be in the money (my personal best rigth now is 32lbs).

I look forward to meeting everyone tomorrow. It should be a blast!!!!!!!
