Obama Appoints 2 Devout Muslims

to Homeland Security Posts

(NOTE: Has anyone ever heard a new

government official being identified as a

devout Catholic, Jew or Protestant...?

Just wondering)
Doesn't this make you feel safer already??

Kareem Shora, who was born in Damascus, Syria
was appointed by DHS Secretary Napolitano

on Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC)
Arif Alikhan, Asst Secretary DHS

Devout Muslims being appointed to critical Homeland Security positions? That should make our homeland much safer, huh!!
Was it not men of the "Devout Muslim Faith" that flew planes into U.S. buildings not too long ago. What the heck is this president thinking?

I'll tell you what I believe he is thinking Willard. He is thinking of ways to change this counrtry forever. Is that not what these poor naive people in this country voted for? I sure hope when he is finished they are happy. Somehow I don't think so. emoBang

thats the thing......he is thinking and we are not.....

WE GOTTA GET THIS FOOL OUT OF OFFICE NEXT ELECTION!!!!

AND BEFORE THEN IF POSSIBLE

We can sure put a serious damper on his schemes next year by taking away their total control. Then give him the size 13 boot in 2012.

Hey R14 read my lips. BUSH IS NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
"
When are you olbummer worshippers going to come up with something to prop up your messiah other than "bush bad" "Bad Bush"?

My guess is never because he has done NOTHING good for the US and never will.

R14 you must have made it either to the first line in the post or didn't quit make it all the way through the second grade in school. This is an excerpt from my post please read it very slowly so you can understand it.

Now first off I don't consider myself a Bigot. I don't hate my neighbor for the shade of his skin. I don't skip a rope either.
Where I do have a problem is the officials we elect ( Rather this time I would say you helped elect the ones we have now.) Giving key positions to the types of people that their religion tell them to kill anything that is not of their religion. Now if you want to keep this type of leader ship then all I can suggest is you move to where it has already happened. I will tell you one thing for sure this old boy ain't never and won't never lay down and be submissive unless there is a good looking female involved.
So if you want to attack some one and call them a bigot then I suggest you attack some one else cause I am not a bigot but I will defend my freedom from any color or nationality.

Thought better about posting my thoughts about a Muslim being in charge of homeland security. This fishing forum must be hard up for more hits and advertising to let such a discussion go on. Oh yeah, R14 just wanted to let you know that your opinions and thoughts would probably carry more weight if your real name was used in your user profile.

Bubbakat,

Yes, I read and fully understood your entire first post. Yes, I have heard of new government officials being identified by religion. It is my understanding that most all approve and/or write their own press release, so the choice to include their religious preference is usually their own.

Since you challenged my reading comprehension, let's look at the lack of yours: NOTE that I said "sounds like", never did call you a bigot (at least not yet emoSmile)

Your ignorance of their religion is showing. Not all Muslims are Radical Right-Wingers.

The Constitution protects their freedom too. Also it protects others religious choice too.

Cheez,

Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. - Winston Churchill

Bush made lots of mistakes, why not acknowledge them and try to and correct them?

<font color="#540155">R14, you might not think all muslims are Radical Right Wingers, but these are quotes from the Koran. These seem right wingish. Now some Muslims might not know what is in their holy text, just like in other religions.</font></p>

<font color="#540155"></font><font color="#540155">"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." </font>(Surah 9:73) </p>

<font color="#540155">"If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may fairly retaliate by breaking off your treaty with them." </font>(Surah 9:12)</p>

<font color="#540155">"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." </font>(Surah 5:51)</p>

<font color="#540155">"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." </font>(Surah 4:104)</p>

<font color="#540155">"Men take authority over women... As for those who are disobedient, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them." </font>(Surah 4:34) </p>

Ah, Bprice, similar type versus can be found the in the bible:

Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. - 1 Samuel 15:3

However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you.- Deuteronomy 20:16-17

So Moses said to the people, “Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites and to carry out the Lord’s vengeance on them. Send into battle a thousand men from each of the tribes of Israel.” So twelve thousand men armed for battle, a thousand from each tribe, were supplied from the clans of Israel. Moses sent them into battle, a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, who took with him articles from the sanctuary and the trumpets for signaling. They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and killed every man. Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle. “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the Lord in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. -- Numbers 31:3-18.

And there are many many more.

R14,</p>

I thought you might bring up those early books of the Old Testament. I can't explain the occurances of the God's commands in the historics books of the Israelites, but one thing I am confident in is Jesus Christ's New Covenent with the World, as theMan that reconnectedhumanity with their Creator.Christ clearly is polar opposite of the teachings in the Koran, one example is here in Matthew.</p>

<font size="1">Matthew 5:38-48</font></p>

<font size="1">38</font>"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'<font size="1">[</font><font size="1">g</font><font size="1">]</font> <font size="1">39</font>But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. <font size="1">40</font>And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. <font size="1">41</font>If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. <font size="1">42</font>Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.<font size="1">43</font>"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor<font size="1">[</font><font size="1">h</font><font size="1">]</font> and hate your enemy.' <font size="1">44</font>But I tell you: Love your enemies<font size="1">[</font><font size="1">i</font><font size="1">]</font> and pray for those who persecute you, <font size="1">45</font>that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. <font size="1">46</font>If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? <font size="1">47</font>And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? <font size="1">48</font>Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.</p>

</p>

I'm not trying to turn this into a Holy War, I just enjoy discussing these issues. </p>

Bprice, you can also find more of the war and violence against others in New Testament specifically Revelations.

Also note that we both mentioned Moses and his battles (Surah 5 and Numbers).

Although I understand your logic, in regards to Christianity. Could Mohammed's later teaching could be also interrupted as being more compassionate? I don't know the Qur'an well enough to say for sure.

Nowhere in Revelations does Jesus command His followers to take up arms against their enemies and foes. Thats the fundamental difference. Revelation lays out the Evil One's plan for Destruction of Earth, and his plan to reign. As Revelations concludes, when Christ returns during the Glorious Appearing, all evil will cease to exist and all will be judged.

As I said above, Christ never commands His followers to take up arms against their their enemies or persecutors.

I think that anyone that studies history or social studies in general should take a world religion class, as a matter of fact it probably should be taught in public schools as a prerequesite to social studies. You really cannot understand a culture without understanding the thought process of both the majority, and minority of those civilizations. Here in the US Christians don't handle snakes, eat glass, or drink syondide to show there faith in God, just like muslims don't believe in killing Christians. They do not believe in killing period. However, just like in every society there is that power struggle that uses religion to complete there own selfish agendas. Thank God our forfathers had enough since to make that issue the firstness of the Constitution. I think all of you guys are great people, been on here a long time. I don't have the answers, but have studied history enough to understand the causes of the fall of many super powers. We are so divided as a nation right now, with really no clear reason, other than the ME, when America realizes it is not about Me and it is about not only America, but the world we live in we will not progress. If God was the the Head Coach of a Sports team right now, the rest of us team mates, what would he say. We have the Bible, Koran, and etc. as playbooks, I think all of us would be failing in the execution, dedication, and so on. You know we all think we will be judged as how we lived our seperate lives, but as I get older I am not so sure anymore.

From what I understand the Koran is the words of Mohammed, I'm not sure how the Surah is the word of Moses. Especially since Moses was in Isaac's bloodline and Muslims follow Ishmael's.

Possum, I agree with you last statement, faithful and unfaithful will be judged not only by our personal actions, but by our fruit and the way we treat our fellow man.

R14,

I don't know how Mohammed's teachings I sighted above can be seen as compassionate. Those are only pieces, as I have not read the whole Koran. I probably never will.
