Rain and crappie fishing

A few weeks ago the hard cold snap shut 'em down bad. But I'm hoping they're going hot & heavy enough now that the coming cold won't hurt quite as bad. It always hits on the weekends while all my "retired" buddies are out there hammerin' 'em during the warm, calm weekdays. emoBawl

just think Richard it won't be too much longer before you are the retired guy we are whining about! emoPoke

The rain itself should improve the crappie fishing but when the cold arrives it will slow them down a bit depending on the severity of the cold.

Think it will rain hard enough to muddy up the creeks?? Should I switch to chartreuse??

Going in the morning and just trying to make sure I didn't get skunked!

Chartreuse is great "go to" color no matter what the water conditions.

Hey Rsimms it may not be as bad as you think. Me, FA, and Cherakee Ridge have been out recently in the nice calm weekdays and we havn't seen any ol' retired or even simi retired ol farts out there.;) I have no idea who you may be referrring to becuase we did not see them. I'll keep a close eye out for those guys.emoScratch Jmax

Foodsaver are you hinting or suggesting RSimms is getting old? Or just stating the facts as you know them. :)

TT
I would never hint or suggest anything of that nature! Your only as old as you feel or at least thats what my soon to be retired coworker keeps telling me.

we did excellent today boys. Red/ Chartreuse was the ticket. Started out in Chester Frost, then after it got windy this morning we ran to the Wolf to get out of the wind.
First 30 fish day we have had all year.

I will post a report as soon as I download the pics.

Yea... you do that for me! And I'll be thinking of you Saturday & Sunday AM when I'm wearing my dead-of-winter zoot suit and rob-a-convenience-store face mask on.emoBang

Frazier, I am hoping this cold spell won't hurt them too bad. But its supposed to be in the 20's Sunday morning. Just hope the wind don't get up and stir the water too much. The rain won't hurt the fishing too bad as it was a fairly warm rain. Don't think it will hurt for the water to stain up some either. Actually it would probably help it as far as getting it to warm back up sooner.

Don't think the rain or cold temps hurt the fishing at all. Went out yesterday and caught 42. 15 were keepers and kept us busy and warm all day long :)
