Our club was supposed to have a tx on Guntersville in the main lake next month, but a few of the guys didn't want to drive very far. So we decided to launch from below the Nickajack dam so we could still call it Guntersville. The problem is that none of us have ever fished that area and were not familiar with the ramps there. Can any of you give me an idea of where we could launch close to South Pittsburgh or in the area that would be a safe and disant ramp? We have about 15 boats in our league and need a fairly disant ramp for parking. Any help will be gratefully appreciated. ( I looked at my map, so I kind of have an idea of where we can go, but anything would help) Thanks!

There is a good ramp with ample parking at the dam.  Go across the lake on I-24 and turn left at the first exit past the bridge.  There is a fireworks store in the median of the highway.  Turn left at the exit and go to the end of the road.  The ramp is to the right.

Theres a good ramp right in S. Pittsburg. Its right at the big blue bridge. Or you can put in right below the dam, a few miles past Shellmounds.

In South Pittsburgh take the 72 bypass South. You will come to a red light at "Ferry Road" Turn Left on Ferry Road and it will dead end at the old ferry crossing which is now a public ramp. No lighting, folks cruising and drinking.

The ramp at the dam is better. Better parking, parking lot lighting, TVA security patrols, & rest rooms.

Put in at the dam. or South Pitt Boat Ramp. If you use the South Pitt boat ramp stay on the down river side or the side closest to the walk way. Ramp drops off and you could hang your trailer. I would put in at the dam for several reasons TVA police patrol the parking lot, bathrooms, lighting, large parking area and is only like 3 miles from South Pitt boat ramp and is closer. Take I-24 west and take exit 158 turn left off of exit ramp go to end of TVA Access road approx 1.5 miles turn right at end of road and go down the small hill. The boat ramp will be on your left.

One of the best ramps in North Alabama is located in Stephenson on highway 117 just before you get to the bridge. It is only a couple years old and has a ton of parking space. It is about 5 miles below the Widows Creek Steam plant, 2 miles upriver from Crow creek. Ramp is as good or better than the one at the Goosepond!

i have heard you have a good chance of you truck getting broke into at the new ramp in stevenson,i dont know for a fact thats just what some locals have told me.i wold use the ramp in so.pittsburg or the ramp at the dam,the ramp at the dam is better if the water is low because part of the ramp at so.pittsburg is broke off at the end and you have to be careful not to drop the trailor off it.

Thanks Doc, I appreciate that information. My wife and I decided to run down to the So. Pittsburgh ramp today from Nickajack Dam, it didn't take much time at all to get there running about 30 MPH on the river.
