O.K., I guess the word affordable is in the eye of the one buying it but I thought I would throw this one out there. I considered going with the Z118c and downsizing some. I decided that I wanted to keep at 200 HP or above so I went with the Z119c with the 225 HP. However if someone was to look at the Z118c with a 150 Optimax on it (or one of those other motors) that is an extremely good looking well running boat. It is not one of the Rangers that will break the bank like so many now days. If you were to look at the new one that Fish-n-Fun just got in that is sitting on their showroom floor it is one sweet ride. It has all the bells and whistles of the ones that run over 50 grand but at a more affordable price in the mid 30 grand range. I looked over that one really closely and it is extremely nice. I am bias considering I am a Ranger fan to start with but if anyone out there is looking to buy a new one that may have thought the Rangers were too high new, take a look at that one. That set up with a 150 is still going to push you over 60 mph on the water and still give you the stability and fish-ability that Rangers are so well known for. Bunch Marine has a couple also so if you are closer there check them out.
I have noticed over the past twenty years that the lower end Rangers have inched up to the more expensive ones in options and appearance. There use to be a wider gap in price and style. My first Ranger was a R81 sport. I paid around 25K for it new. It was not considered a Comanche Ranger but rather a "Wan-na-be" Comanche without the high price tag. Now that the 100 series has come out they are considered a Comanche and come with more options and are closer to their higher end 500 series. The price tag has come up about 10 grand or a little more but still the price I paid for my Ranger Sport was about 20 years ago. emoAngel I just thought I would throw this out there for anyone considering a new one in 2014. emoThumbsup Jmax
Here is a little video I found on the Z118c...
