Day started out suckin'. It was foggy and my nav lights didn't work emoBang . I left HBSP around 9:30, heading to the "Secret Location" provided to me from a buddy at work. I was stoked. He's been hammering them. I showed up and there were 5 boats on the "Secret Location."
I decided to hit a cove nearby when I saw bait popping near the banks. I threw everything in the tackle box towards the bank but I blanked.
I moved off the banks into 13 fow and and started throwing diagonally towards the banks. Second cast, on a point, my lipless crankbait got crushed. It was a cool fight and the fish cooperated as I was barking orders for the fish to stay down and stay on. Kinda fun netting the fish by myself on a pontoon boat. She ended up weighing 5.5lbs.
Cast a couple more times and nada. Changed to a 4" creature bait T-rigged (not TN rigged) emoLaugh and first cast caught a 3.5lb'er that fought harder than the 5.5lb'er.
As I was leaving the cove, I threw a shakey head for good measure and got a 2.15lb'er.
The plan was to have my wife and daughter meet me around noon-ish so we could just cruise and Taylor could go fishing with her Barbie pole and the red worms.
Taylor only fished for a little bit, but caught her first fish of the year. She's too much like her mom and won't touch the fish or the worms, but a couple more "Daddy/Daughter" times with out mommy and she'll be taking the fish off the hook with her teeth! emoUpsmile
It was a great day to be on the water with my family!
