What a interesting tourney we had on the 15th (Greater Atlata Bass Club) this was our first time fishing the lake, so wanted to share what we found that will hopefully provide some good credible info, to add to your aresonal for your next outing or help some of you guys that get on the lake regular or not so.

Saturday 14th Prefish Techniques

Our prefish is where the club gets together and end of the day we all give info on techniques, NOT areas. (but i will let you know where we caught our fish, read on)

Saturday was a strugle for most, but some were able to find fish deep off ledges and some focused exclusivley on shallow water and docks in pockets, and some staid ON the (humps next to the ledges with grass). fish caught on ledge was on 5XD and 6XD Long Lining and 1 oz Crig and also 1 oz Scroungers with a white fluke.

The dock fish were caught on 1/4 oz (light brown jigs tipped with twin tails) brown and green. nothing fancy

The pocket fish in shallow grass was caught on shallow crank baits all in the back of Possum Creek (i do want to add that one guy of our club was fishng SOLO and for clubs fishing solo can be a disadvantage cause you dont have two baits in the water and no help with a net. This Solo fisheman had 13 lbs all in back of Possum and lost two good fish that would have probably got him to 1st... oh well that happens.

Grass fish were caught on the humps with 3/16th shakey heads tiped with junebg ribbon tail worms 8 inch. and also zoom speed vibe green pumpkin and White 1/4 oz Chatter baits, and also 3/8 swmming jigs in herring color.

Sunday the 15th was our turney.

We were fortunate to take 1st with 16.86 pounds anchored with a 4.76 as big fish. (i guess not bad for someone not really knowing the lake at all) We had a slow morning from day light till around 8 am. We went south toward Island cove marina and fished some humps and not much success. Then headed up toward Chester Frost and i will try to describe the area that we caught all or fish over the course of the day. (description of the area that I am sure many of you guys know--- if you turn right out of Chester Frost onto the river you will travel 1/4 of a mile and there is a small Island on the left nxt to a ledge with a Duck Blnd on the Back side of the island, looked to be a big community hole as we saw several boats on the LEDGES in front o the island) Okay, hope you know where it is, back to the fishing...as stated, at around 8 am, we pulled up to the back side of the island where we were facing the duck blind and was off the island about 200 yards casting toward the duck blind with Chatter baits, we caught three 16 inch fish within an hour and didnt try any other baits and moved north to the nuclear plant and couldnt get a bite or area to fish cause other boats were the humps. at 12:30 we went back down to the island where we caught our early fish. we decided to start out a litle deeper in 7 ft to think the fish may have moved out, no bites on moving baits, but my partner picked up the shakey head and started slowly swimming the ribbon tail worm. needless to say we got 2 more and so now we have a limit, We contnued to work the area and WOW we caught several fish (12 to 18 fish) the majority on shakey head swimmin the ribbon tail and we culled everyone of our prebious fish for the sack we weighed in. I guess you could say we just focused a little dipper ON the hump but we staid away from he ledges. We did catch a couple on the swimming jig also, but it didnot help or bag.

You guys have a great fishery and we look forward to coming back, from what i understand you local guys had a turney and 21 ls won that turney, no dought local knowledge really helps out. I hope the info i gave will at least help someone try something different and it will add to your techniques.

With me giving you guys this info, i would like to actually find out what else we possibly missed for the big fish, Where are they and what are they biting?

Great report. I went passes that island several times and there were always boats on it one must have been you. I caught my first on a skinny dipper (shiner) and the rest on a crig fluke. Never could get my goth fish though. Hope to see you in November at the top six tournament. Take care of Ron for us!
