We had it all tonight. Suspense, intrigue, and lots of excitement. When the smoke cleared, Jmax stood alone atop the RABTS points standings. What he pulled off tonight can be held in the same reverence as the Boston Red Sox Miracle comeback on the Yankees in the ALCS, Eli Manning's miracle pass to defeat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl and USA's defeat of Russia in the 80 Olympics. THE LEGEND lived up to his heroic status tonight.
The smart money was on Robbie McGill who only needed to finish 5th or better to win the RABTS angler of the year title. All of the pressure was squarely on the shoulders of JMax and his young ward Beetlespin. Not only did he pull a winning sack of fish out of the depths of the Chickamuaga tonight, he and
his boy wonder rescued Treeman from a trip to Davy Jones Locker.
The weigh-in was tense. Danny Daniels and Billie Luna were the first to the scales and threw down a 3.89LB large mouth and had a total weight of 9.48LBS,
JMAX approached the scales and eagerly placed his 3 fish on the scales. The scale landed on 10.55LBS and JMAX smiled. He pulled out the two smaller fish
and the big fish weighed a solid 4.78LBS. Treeman brought his bag to the scale and laid down a fat fish that looked sure to take the lead from JMAX for big fish. The scales stopped at 4.65LBS and JMAX grew more confident. Treeman ended up with a total weight of 9.48 LBS. Several more bags of fish were left to weigh. I noticed JMAX kept looking toward the dock to see if Robbie McGill was heading toward the scales. The next few bags were weighed and it became clear that JMAX had worked the miracle I predicted earlier this week. He overcame a huge point deficit to win the RABTS Angler of the Year title.
