I'm thinking it would stay on a hook a lot better than livers. Should it be fresh or rancid? Thanks, Bill

Fresh for sure. Stay away from the chicken "tenderloins" though. They won't stay on the hook much better than liver does.

If you want to catch the big cats, use the whole chicken.emoLaugh Just kidding, use bone in or boneless chicken breast or thighs. Rsimms is the master at using this bait. Use spam, skipjack steaks, large minnows, etc.

I prefer fresh... catfish probably don't care, but when chicken goes bad, it stinks up your cooler something fierce! emoVomit

I agree with you rsimms. Chicken can be really nasty if it goes bad.

OH, you mean like what skipjack smells like when it's fresh. When skippies go bad, you just bury the cooler in the back yard (someone else's). emoUpsmile

Hey Richard if you think stinking up a cooler is bad, try getting carelessly placing a couple of frozen fryers on top of your refrigerator while removing items from the freezer unit, and then leaving for a week's camping trip. That trick can really get you in trouble. emoHoppingmad emoHoppingmad emoRedface emoRedface

Chicken breast is not always the best bait, but it is the easiest to get and prepare (walmart). It produces good numbers and will attract trophy fish as well. It will stay on a 5.0 circle hook.
