Wait a minute, there was no fishing around Ft. Greely in 1970 when I was at the Arctic test site in 1970. Hunting was great though. I still remember the caribou BBQ. It only got down to -70 before the wind chill taking it down to -100+. It got to 90 1 day in June or July though. Everyone had to wear sun screen as you burned fast in that air. Fairbanks was the only close town and my son was stationed there (Ft. Richardson?) for 3 years in the 1990's. The first snow was end of August. Thanksgiving we went ice skating as it warmed to -29. Watch out for dry rot as ski's, tennis racquets, etc. all shattered on use.

"NO FISHING AROUND FORT GREELY" ?

I would love to go Grayling fishing and I don't know anyone personally that has. But his son will be able to do that at least on 'some' days. And from what I see via a Google search he will also be close to Arctic Char, Salmon, and Rainbows... and not stocked Rainbows either I'm betting.

Good luck & good fishing to your son - just have him take a buddy or two and have good GPS/COMMUNICATION devices.

I will watch for his FISHING REPORTS !
