i'd have to say photoshop, who catches a fish like that and doesn't weight it or at least drag it ashore to take a full picture.

Based upon the reliability of the source who provided me with that photo and info, I believe it is the real thing.

100% NOT photo-shop! There is no money to gain for someone with the expertise it would take to photo-shop this kind of quality for a Catfish......

I am a believer!!!!

I've caught 2 or 3 as big as that one, didn't get to take pics because my camera was broke and my scales just go to 50 pounds and I couldn't get them in the boat because I was by myself, I just turned them loose.

Makes me want to go cattin. hard to guess the weight by those pics, but wern't there 2 cats over 100 pounds caught on the Miss during the Cabela's King Kat last year? No doubt there are some big boys out there.

All of that is interesting, what you guys have posted, but I have been more amazed by the cff'rs that have posted since I have been on here. The cat guys on here know what they are doing and I would love to see some of them team up and go whack 'em at those tx's.

Yeah..I seen that fish and read the thread on BOC.....It looks to be the real thing to me.....who is to say how much it actually weighed......definately over 100 lbs......It takes a heck of a catfishermen to release a possible world record so that it would live.......he said he didn't want to harm or stress the fish anymore.

I just wish he had a full picture of the fish.......he said it bottomed out his 100lb scales with just about half the fish out of the water.

I know that ding-a-ling, I am a member. I asked if it WAS a BOC member, not WHAT is a BOC member..

Doc is your OFD kicking in today?

I myself do think that the pictures are liget. But the first picture raises a question. It stated that his wife took the pictures. Look at the first one and tell me if she was in another boat or on a dock or walking on water when she took the first picture.

Well I went in search of an answer to my question and found out this fella caught this fish about 1 in the afternoon and called his wife and she drove some 12 miles around the water to where he was at to get some pictures of it. She took them from the bank and the fish was only moved about 100 to 200 yards in the water to photo. I'll find out what line and rod and reel he was useing and post it back here. I do know he was fishing with a whole skip jack. Couldn't get him to give me the exact position though.

I have a book on catfish and during the 1800's cats of 200+ lbs were caught quite often with reports of 300 lbers. One report was by Mark Twain. The books suggests the building of dams, pollution, predation by man, etc are some of the reasons cats of this size do not show up anymore. Interesting reading.

Gents this is the reply I received from the man that had his hands on that large cat.

Willard., the line weight was fifty pounds, the reel was a Daiwa Sealine X,The rod was a Shakespeare Sturdy Stick, Hooks double rig
Kale 10/0 on top with a 7/0 hook on the bottom. The fish was caught on the 7/0 bottom hook. Bait was Skipjack head. Thanks for your interest, If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. John

THats trerrific Willard, thanks for getting the info. I know everyone has different ideals on what to do or not to do with a potential World Record fish, but i sure am curious why he didnt get it weighed. I for one have no-doubt it was the new record, by a mile.
