Just back from vac. that turned into a great fishing trip in the Fort Morgan area of Ala.. The red fishing was great and thats an understament. We caught 48 big reds most were over 20 lbs and some over 25 lbs. thats as high as our scales would go. out the first full day on Tues. the 15 th and we caught 12 nice ones and then on Wed. we caught 18 really good ones and it seem to just get better. On Thur. we were out for only two and a half hours and we caught 15 more of these wonderfully hard fightting fish. It was a really something catching those big ones on lighter gear such as a flipping stick and 80 lb braid, didn't want to loose any, but a sharke cut it a couple times. All in all it was undecribleablely wonderful.

Dhaun, had no guide, just a new friend, he lives next door to the friends house I was staying at. my friend was letting me stay down there in his home while he was was working up here in chatt town, a rweal friend. I was looking at hotels and such after I came back and theres a Holiday Inn on orange beach, but the off season is comming so there may be condos and home for rent at a cut rate, I don't know much more that that. But the person that took me out was not a guide he sait if anyone wanted to go out and shate exp. he would be glad to do so. But he's as good as the guides there. if insterested I can get his phone no. to you.

Hey Pointer78, theres plenty of them down in Mobile Bay just off the dixie bar close to the chanel for trafic in and out of the bay. Phill, my new friend for lifr says there most all year round. I don't know about that but they were sure there this last week. Where we were catching them was really close to the ramp where we launched the boat. About one mile from the ramp on Fort morgan at the end of Hwy 180. It is close to 20 miles down 180 from Gulf Shores Ala. Hwy 59. The reds are all I thought and then some, awesome.

I saw the pictures of those reds and it is easy to see how a person could get excited about catching those brutes. Shocker, I really enjoyed meeting you today and sharing some fish "tales". I'm looking forward to this fall when we get together and fish Normandy for some of those black-nosed Crappies.emoGeezer

Hey Mr. DK, the pleasure was all mine and I too am looking foward to when we can get out on the new waters of Normandy.

Hey RS, don't be jealous, those BIG cats have to be close to the same type fight, but it was a blast. It was good to meet and chat a few minutes with you and your wife.

Good to meet you there shocker. Those pictures were great. I'd like to get in on some of that action myself. Any fish that can pull large amounts of heavy line from the reel before you turn them is fun.

Well Sir.... I've caught both, and as much as I love them, pound-for-pound a blue cat is no match for a red. There's something about those saltwater fish... they're turbo-charged V12 Ferrari's ... a big blue is a Ford Diesel in 4-Wheel Low. Both are fun, but it ain't the same.

Good analogy Richard. I bet no one that hooks into a redfish says "aw man I'm hung up"
Have you ever heard that RichardemoLaugh
