I'm new to CFF and I read DHaun mission statement about why CFF is here. I like what he said and his reason behind CFF for fishing reports. but.. I have a Question..????... If I go to Chick. lake Bass fishing and I do find a few fish, nothing really great or worth bragging about. Should we post a fishing report so that it might help other fisherman with what little bit if information I put together, (remember i also would proabley state what didn't work for us). Or should i wait untill it's a really good day to make a post.....

Just interested and would like to know, i don't want to waste you time if that kind of information is not wanted on this site.....

Make all the fishing reports, the good, the bad, and the ugly. If we made only the good ones, there wouldn't be many on here.

I post a report no matter what. Each report will help someone else out in different ways...whether it be what to throw or what NOT to throw. Any information is definitely welcome emoThumbsup

Welcome to CFF and thanks for asking! I think both positive and negative reports are helpful. Knowing where you did not find fish might help others narrow down their patterns. Many times it can be helpful for anglers to compare notes on poor days fishing and come up with reasons why the fish did not cooperate. Things can change quick on the river sometimes so personally it helps me to know if the fish are not biting in a certain area...(i.e. I recall staying home and saving gas a few times when others reported a super-slow striper bite below Nickajack last year).

I think that I have learned more from not catching fish than when I catch a bunch. I do have more fun when I catch some big or small but when I catch 60 bass in the day and everything that I do works it doesn't teach me much and it tends to confuse me more than help me next time that I go out and the fishing isn't so good. We don't want to know specifically where anyone fishes but what is most helpful is to know what type of structure and at what depth the fish are or are not active and catchable. Knowing if fish are on outside creek or river bends, on flats, at creek mouths, in sloughs, etc, etc, etc, is info that all of us can use and reproduce in our area of local lakes and other regional lakes and even in other parts of the country. I think that we would be surprised where the lurkers and some of our members hail from. We share info here that is not shared other places. Thanks again for being an active part of our fishing forum OUT4FUN!

emoThumbsup You got the right idea, no matter what post it and learn.emoToast Jmax

I agree with what the majority has said. A bad day is a learning day. It let people know what isn't working and saves them time with trying that pattern. In addition it let's other people on the forum that had a "bad day" that day, know they were not alone. Sometimes a bad day is an indication of what is going to work in the future. Let's say you went out, tried everything but the only thing that worked, even in a limited way, was topwater. That COULD indicate that topwater was getting ready to really turn on. There are lots of ways of looking at this but I think you should post the bad days along with the good. I am guilty of not doing that myself, so I can't throw stones!
