Hey guys, I thought of repainting my boat/motor (don't like that stained white look) with marine paint to make it look a little more decent...to get rid of scratches and marks that were created by previous owners as well.

Now, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and do it or not... How should I plan painting the boat? Should I draw an example of how I want it to look before I do anything? And, when I'm painting under the boat... the trailer will be in the way!

Any suggestions?

I'd like to do this project to make my boat look better... It's got many marks on it and I don't really like the color that's currently on it either.

Thanks for any info...

You can't exactly "paint" a fiberglass boat like you might think. It will be very expensive and not exactly a DIY job.

I would just clean it good with a product called NU Hull and then be done with it. You can't just paint a fiberglass boat but the scratches can be repaired.

Kevin. Scratches are one thing...paint is another. Gel coat is what you'll have to do but Im telling ya...very expensive!

Why not look into a wrap?

A good wrap will cost you atleast 2-3k. Fixing the scratches in gel coat without flake is not that hard to do and if they are not that deep some wet sanding will work.
