I have a 10 foot aluminum boat that i use to float the sequatchie river in dunlap tn. when it starts to leak, i put it on some saw horses and fill it up half way with water, that way you can get underneth and see the water leaking around the rivits. Take a marker and mark the leaky ones and then drain the water, then just flip the boat on its top. I have found that the best way to fix my leaks is J B WELD it holds very well, and you can pick it up at your local auto parts store. Good luck with your boat.

if you have access to a high fequency tig or mig welding machine that will also seal it if you want a more permanent fix for it

Chattanooga Yellow pages has several listings for aluminum welding under Welding. Most machine shops do aluminum welding. A lot of your steel fabricators also do aluminum. The "Steel Store" downtown can probably give you a few names of small shops. Welding supply shops can also give you leads.

Be sure and go over your stress points around the transom too and mark any cracks you find there. You're going to pay by the hour and can save money by cleaning all the areas and clearly marking them. If you clean with a wire brush make sure it is stainless steel and not carbon steel.

Or you can throw a coat of RTV or Gorilla Glue around the rivets and head for the lake!

Silicon Caulk has been holding this boat together for the last four years.
