Retired Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency employees are speaking out against a new rule imposed by the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission last year that changed the legal definition of a buck.

Retired biologists need not worry about the politics involved. They can "tell it like it is" without fear of repercussion. It seems that, in this case, that's exactly what some of them are doing. It will be interesting to see if anyone is listening.

Interesting read. In my personal opinion the old rule was fine. I always carry some powerful binocs with me just to get a better look at longer shots. A few years I was on a lease in west TN that had a fine for killing button bucks. I had my scope cranked up to 9 power and looked that doe over from head to tail for several minutes. Squeezed the trigger and the Doe fell in it's tracks. When I walked the 150 yards to the Doe I discovered it was a little buck with probably 1 1/4 of antler protruding. Cost me a $50 dollar fine. Been carrying the binocs ever since.

Its not worth fighting over. If you dont like button bucks being killed out of your heard, join a lease or club where they dont kill them...problem solved.

It's not like we have a lack of deer I think there's to many kill them all, poach them all, run over them all.
