Richard Simms Shares "An Outdoor State of Mind"

"The outdoors is not a place, it's a state of mind."

That is the philosophy of journalist and fishing guide Richard Simms. For much of his life Simms has poured out his heart and soul in ink, sharing the message of the outdoors. Simms, a two-time recipient of the "Conservation Communicator of the Year" from the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, has shared his skills with a wide variety of publications for nearly 30 years. Now you can read the "best of" Simms' award-winning words in his newly-published book, "An Outdoor State of Mind."

An avid hunter and fisherman since he could walk, Simms knew at an early age that his life would be dedicated to conservation and the outdoors. He fulfilled that dream serving first as a wildlife officer for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, then as a professional journalist in broadcast, print and on the web. He speaks a language best understood by the millions of men and women who prefer the woods and water over an urban desert.

After reviewing Simms' book, veteran outdoor writer John Sloan wrote, "it is a select club, this group of writers who so accurately create pictures using just a few words. It may well be that Richard Simms is the dean of this group."

Outdoor Writer and Ducks Unlimited TV Host, Wade Bourne, said, "I give the strongest recommendation for Richard's new collection of stories. Frog grabbing, catfishing, deer hunting and other outdoor "quests" are part of the fabric of life in the Mid-South, and Simms has woven a wonderful 'quilt' with this publication."

"This book is a diary of my own outdoor life... a life that so many others have lived as well," said Simms. "I believe this collection of stories will touch the hearts and minds of those men and women, and perhaps help them share their own outdoor life experiences with others."

"An Outdoor State of Mind" is available in a hardback version ($24.99 plus shipping) or a softback version ($13.95 plus shipping). You can read previews and place your order at http://stores.lulu.com/rsimms

Sounds like a good read Richard. I am interested in it. Is the on line ordering the only way to aquire a hard back or are you selling them locally somewhere?

Right now my only outlet is online. http://stores.lulu.com/rsimms You can order hardback or paperback however. Somewhere down the road I might try to hit up some book stores to see if they will carry it. But I'm a ways off from being able to effort that.
