River Crappie Wednesday 1-25

I got out about 11:00 this morning for 4 hours of Crappie fishing. I caught 9 keepers (slabs) 3 throwbacks, 2 bluegills, and 2 golden shiners. I had about a 3 pound Spot break my line at the boat as I was reaching for him. Groan! Must have had a weak spot at the knot. The fish were caught deep and slow on tubes. Red/white and black/orange/chartreuse pepper were best.

Not a bad day. Which river hiwass or chick? I went this mourning and started off fishing for crappie but nothing.Then switched to bass and caught three crappieemoScratch. Anyway,cool crappie with a hole in it. I once caught a bass with no tail, it was in a tourney and would have measured if it had a tail lol.

I was fishing the chick near the nuclear plant.

Good going there Mr. DK, looks like a bird got a bite of that one crappie. You were smart going out late, I went with Troit C in the park and we caught 12 bass, two keepers. but it was cold early. Nice looking crappie.

I wonder how good those shiners would be for catfish bait?

Great report DK - I caught several shiners on crappie jigs too when I went with PaulJ. Never knew they got that big...

That's a good looking mess of crappie there DK. It was good weather day for fishing.

They would probably be good catfish bait. I know that the bass in Florida just love these things. I caught a 10.5 pounder down there in the early 70's on golden shiners.

You can eat ANYTHING if you're hungry enough. Folks ate your stew didn't they? emoLaugh I'm sorry... it was a low blow but you opened the door so I just had to walk through it. I'm bad about that. emoRedface
