Hey...y'all dont worry..I got a partner this morning..LOL

And what a partner he is!

BBassJr and I hit the river this morning with Mr Whiskers and AlvinC. (seen Whisler too!) Started off fishing around the Bridge Pillars and BBasJr started wearing me out! I think he was keyed in on the big ones while I was getting the smaller fish. Not to worry though...Ol Dad did manage to ge the biggest!

We tried around the bend for awhile and the first cast I made...BIG BOY! Had to be a Smallie or the best spot I've seen yet. We do know it was a bass because it got right up to the boat when .......That new P-Line stuff BROKE!

Broke 2 times yesterday.

I don't know if I got a bad batch but I trust my ProBass Excel 100 times more than this stuff. It comes off 3 reels tonight!

Anyways...fired up and went back to the pillars and got a few more. Went on up and fished the bridge at riverpark...got a few there. All and all...Great day to be out there with my son.

Heres a few pics and I think he snuck one of mine in the picture..LOL.

BTW...25 plus spots. 10 good keepers and a few real good size Bream.

Spinnng reel rigged with a Turnturn #4 Straight hook and , thanks to Alvin and Michael, a small split shot weight. The bait store only had the tiny minnows but they worked well for us this morning.

One thing though...I think the next time I do this, I'll rigged up a Med. rod and maybe 6 pound test. I had 12 on and that minnow just didn't want to sink.

What rig were you useing with the minnows?

I was using a 1/0 (I think) Gamakatsu circle hook (rsimms you reading this) with no weight. I just let the little shiner do his thing, pick up and the fish will usually be there. The line I have on is 8lb Berkley Fluorocarbon and it sucks. That line has done nothing but twist since it came off the spool (and yes I spooled it correctly). Going back to Triline XL next year.

Yea, I'm reading... right now have one more trip booked but I'm just about over this catfish stuff for a while. I'm ready to try some of the freelining for spots. Sounds fun...

That really looks like fun. That's a fine looking young man you have there. I also a jr. partner. We need to get together sometime. I would like to learn this free line technique. I really want to learn the water below the dam. I have a nine year old son that you have probably seen on here before. Let me know if we can follow you guys around sometime.

Anytime you want to go I will take you down there! Circle hooks and all.emoPoke

I was driving 27 this AM and saw a couple boats at the bridge. I was hoping to see a thread from a CFF member. When I saw you guys, I wanted to turn around and go fishing. Good going guys. Got to watch out for those young fisher boys and girls.

The fish bite so well down there, it makes it hard to put up my boat for the season. I'm actually thinking of getting a small flatbottom to run in the winter time....

Anytime you guys wanna go in mine or YOURS, just PM me and we'll find a good date.

I use a slip float sometimes. Normally I would use 4-6 lb trilene but down at the riverpark area I use 8 lb. trilene. The freelining is my favorite way to fish the large shiners or threadfin. The dime in the pic is for size comparison. The hooks are 1/0.

Way to go there Bbass Jr... I think you had your dad pretty worried that you were going to skunk him... that would have been too funny. Keep up the pressure on him. He will skrew up and you can really put the hurt on him... We will not let him live it down either.... Good picture BTW... I liked the color of the sweat shirt... go big orange. emoGeezer emoWorthy
