We had a schedule mixup for an FOCBA family tournament so the few boats that showed up decided to fish for fun. I had talked my dad into coming with me so he and I headed up towards the dam and started out around the lock throwin a LC Sammy and caught several small spots. Then headed down towards the bend, stopping to fish some rip rap and the bridge pilings before heading to the bend. Altogether boated 25 or so largemouth and spots. Unfortunately, the four keepers we caught would have weighed around 4 pounds or so. I actually caught 2-3 spots that were smaller than the crankbait I was throwing.
Did see a catfish in the four foot range floating belly up. Also had a gar bust on my Sammy and cut the line clean, leaving my topwater floating.
As always, I enjoyed the time on the water with my dad, especially as we both get older.
