I launched at 10am, threw a 1/4 white marabou jig just above the dock after getting in the water, nailed 4 spots in 4 casts all where 13-15 inches, moved down river caught 2 more spots about 12" at a summerged rock pile in 10-12 feet, then made another 20 casts without a bite, then I let the jig drift with the current, and thought I was hung up on bottom, but then the bottom moved left .. then right .. then drag started whining on my spinning rod.. 18 mins later a white flash appeared on the surface .. it was a huge stripper good 20 lbs .. just as I got it to the boat the hooked staighted out .. and that beautiful fish was gone .. man I just wanted a picture.. oh well.. I fished another 2 hrs without a bite .. then on the way back to the ramp stopped at a ledge that has alwasy done well in warmer weather ... thought what the heck was worth a shot .. fished about half hr around the ledge in 8 to 16 feet water, then just as I was about to give up, a school of shad and bass moved in .. I caught 8 more spots in the 12-14" range and one smallmouth about 15" on a susspending jerk bait.
all and all a good day.. I over heard several guys at the ramp saying they never had a bite .. humm guess I was just at the right place right time.
