Beetlespin and I got out for a few hours yesterday and fished the river for some fun. Not a lot to report we caught about 20 or so fish mostly spots. I caught 2 around 2 lbs but those were our biggest fish. Beetlespin did catch a big drum on a blade and i caught a keeper sauger on a crank. Bass came on crank, jig and spinnerbait.

No smallies this time and I think that is the first time in last 5 trips that we have not caught a keeper smallie.

Water was up, moving good, and had great color. Glad we finally got enough rain to put some stain on it.

I hate to keep beating this drum and I promise I'll stop after the Oct 14 meeting, but, do you have any idea how many:

Total bass caught
number of spots, size not important!
number LM & SM over 12"
number of LM & SM under 12" (this is the important number as it compares to the total number of bass caught)

Thanks

2 LM both about 13 inches...the rest spots, not sure on exact numbers but let's say 18 with 2 being over 15 inches the rest at or around 12 inches long.

Good report Joe. Where did you get the Sauger, how big was it? I'm already looking forward to the cold weather tailrace fishing for Jacks and Stripers.

Brandon, I was in Lynchburg today, looking over the lake ( Tims), I thought about you and our upcoming trip to it. I'm thinking in a couple weeks if we can hook up. Whats your schedule look like over the next few weeks?

sauger came from the second long rock point below the river park just before you get to the s. Chick. creek. I would guess it was 15 inches long. Toothy critter ! yes i am ready for winter fihsing too. i usually catch my biggest fish of the year in Jan or feb
