Put in at 9:30pm and started working the riprap. Started off throwing a spinnerbait with no takers. Switched over to a fly-n-rind and started catching fish. Broke off the fly and tied on a finesse(sp?) jig and pork. Meredith had a good one on but it shook her before we could get a look at it. The wind was up but no current and the water was way down. Stuck the best smallie about 12:30 near the golf course. He taped at 17.5in, I would have weighed it but I forgot I have a good scale now. Put the boat on the trailer at 2am. Grand total was 3 spots (all ~12in), 2 smallies, and 2 drum. All caught on a pig-n-jig or a fly-n-rind. Here is the goodun.

I'm going to bed now, i"m tired....

WS6Clint, that sounds like a lot of fun. Is there much light down there on the river? I love fishing at night when it's hot during the day. That's a beautiful smallie. I applaud you for fishing the jigs in the 'rap in the river at night. I think that it's tough enough fishing that bait in the daytime with all that current. Do you just go light and keep it out of the rocks that way? Was there much current? Great job out there. Were the fish fairly shallow? It seemed that when MB and I were out there that there was a definite shelf in 3-4 feet of water along much of the rip rap that was productive. Is that where the fish seemed to be?

nice smallie Clint! I love fishing at night

We know.... The man never sleeps or works??? I do want to get up there and share the boat with you later.... BTW do you have enough help to move? I may need to come up to help so I too can sit on the front poach and look at the lake...emoThumbsup

There is quite a bit of light coming from downtown, especially last night. The light was reflecting off the cloud cover that rolled in, and when the clouds would break the almost full moon helped out too. Still need a flashlight or one of the under the cap brim LED's like I have, I love that thing.

The hair jig I was throwing is 1/4oz and the Eakin's jig is 5/16oz, using 8lb floro on a 6'6" spinning rod. I was also keeping the jig scootin'. All fish were close to the bank, the jig would hit the water, move it a few feet, and they would suck it in. Not much current at all. I would have liked a little bit to turn the fish on, but my connections at TVA are not that strong, LOL!
