Riverpark with MrWhiskers Wed 12-27-2006

I had the great pleasure to fish with MrWhiskers today at the Riverpark. He is a great guide. We caught nearly everything that swims today except a drum (oh me) and a catfish. We didn't catch a whole lot of everything, but all in all considering the bluebird skies, post front conditions, we didn't do too badly.

We caught about 9 spots or so, around 5 long eared sunfish, 1 coosa bass, 2 smallmouth bass, 1 white bass, and several yellow bass. We didn't really keep up with the numbers, although we didn't find any great concentrations of fish. Some of MrWhiskers favorite places didn't produce today for some unknown reason.

For those who are interested, all the fish were caught during the movement period. We started fishing around 10:00 and caught the first fish around 11:50. The peak of the movement was 12:40. We caught fish until about 2:15-2:30. Then it was like fishing in the Gobi desert. All fish were caught on jigging spoons. Nothing else worked for us today. I took 15 fish home to eat for dinner.

MrWhiskers, thank you for taking me downriver and teaching me a thing or two about river fishing. I'll take you to Watts Bar this spring if you want to go. I had a wonderful time.emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Drumking pretty much summed up our day pretty well. The fish were very scattered and we were never able to establish a pattern or find any numbers of fish. Sad to say the drum bite was dead for us today.emoBigsmile

Below is a picture of our best bass of the day. This smallie was about 1.5 lbs and came off of a jigging spoon in 17 feet of water.

Thanks for the ride today Drumking, I really enjoyed it. I look forward to a trip to Watts Bar this spring.

The housekeeping picture was of me pulling in someone elses line that I hooked on the bottom. I must have pulled in 100 feet of line. Unreal. Also I pulled in about 30 feet of pretty green line in Dhaun's favorite hole. I wonder who's line that could have been.emoPoke
