Can anyone remember where the roasted peanut store was in downtown Chattanooga?
I think it was somewhere around Market and Third Street. Big trucks would dump raw peanuts
down a chute in the sidewalk. You could smell roasted peanuts a block away.

I remember it being between 8th and 9th on The E side of Market Street. But I could be wrong. I remember getting 25 cents worth of cashews and eating them for a while. That many cashews now would be $10 I guess.

I Remember when Mr Peanuts Would Stand on the Side of Brainerd Rd Handing out Peanuts trying to get you into the Peanut store on Brainerd Rd.

Planter's Peanut Store on the left side going toward the river. I'm thinking it was close to Sears maybe between 5th and 6th. street. The planter peanut man walked the sidewalk dresses up in his peanut costume giving out samples. he used a long handle plastic spoon that held about two peanuts. I'm 75 yrs. old and remember it very well. Years were in the 40's and 50's.

I was wrong. I have a friend that was the manager there and asked him about it yesterday. He said it was across from the STATE THEATRE on Market St. Slick Was right.

I found an old address and digitalcb is right on, 615 Market Street. I wonder if the old sidewalk chutes are still there. Can't tell from Bing Maps. I'll have to check it out someday.
