Hello folks My friend Brian from Tampa Bay area came up this week and asked if he could tag along fishing with me. He didn’t even have to ask. Dropped Deer hunting and planned to go to Watts Bar. He‘s a Florida guy and used to the 80.s so we planned to go a little later in the morning to let the chill burn off. Well when we did get there saw Drum King and Tileman in two different boats with their partners. DK had some bad news for me. He said “They quit biting about forty minutes ago” Oh......

We fished for about a half hour before we got the first bump and then we got it in gear. As DK said, it was slow, therefore we had to work hard for the fish.

Redfish Brian landed several Rockfish to make his day. This was a first for him to catch rockfish. His biggest was about 20#. That is just what I wanted for him. I ran the boat and put him into the fish.

As for me I should have listened to the Master and not follow FA’s lead. I had 20# line and got broke off too many times. I think my line was a little rotten because it should have held better that it did. I’ll be ready the next time.

Thanks to all of you CFF Members that sent me in the right direction. And a special thanks to you Mr DrumKing Sir.

Here are some pics;

Way to go LL - Great Report! That's a lot of nice fish for a first-time Rockfish trip! Were you using Bucktails? How deep is it below Watts Bar?

Beautiful fish, Liveliner. I figured that the fish would start up again after we left. That seems to be the pattern at WB. I'll bet your friend had a great time and I bet the rockfish pull nearly as hard as the redfish that he is used to.

Get Berkley Big Game 20# line and you won't go wrong. I hope that you didn't have your drag set too tightly. That may be the reason that you broke off a couple of times. I'm so glad that you got into the fish. I'm going back in the morning instead of Friday. Dr Phillip wants to go for a couple of hours tomorrow.emoGeezer

Tileman, do you have a report? I know that they caught at least 1 fish. We saw them land it and he said that it was about 12 pounds.

Liveliner, you are the man. I had a great time today. It was my first striper expedition and boy was it a good one. I never expected to do so well. Those pictures look excellent also.
Any of you Tennessee boys wanna come down to Florida, I always have a spot available. This was something totally different for me and boy was it a blast. I cannot wait to repay the favor.:)

Hey liveliner, what kind of baitwell do you have? I'm wanting one for Christmas.

Hello DRC.
I'll let you see it sometime. It is a free standing tank. It is called Super Bait Tank. I think it is 32 gallon. It is doulble walled with insulated walls. Charcoal filtering powered by an internal 500GPH Rule pump. It has fresh air injection and oxygen ready. Keeps bait and fish alive for a very long time.

Google Super Bait Tank and you may find them. That would be a nice Christmas gift for you.
