Got out today w/ Steve Hales and headed to Heath Lake from 8a-1p. I haven't been to Heath Lake in over 5 years but have been told that the spoon bite has been on fire, so we had intentions of vertical fishing w/ spoons and drop-shots..... Things didn't work out as we had hoped to say the least. We didn't catch a fish on spoon or the drop shot, I marked small schools of fish and bait in 18-25ft throughout the lake but couldn't get bit??? I ended up catching 2 on the fish head spin including the one in the picture and Steve landed a nice 5-lber on a spinnerbait out of the standing timber but that was it for today..... Hope everyone has a great New Year.

My Father-in-law and I went to Heath Lake this morning too. Fished from 7 till 2. Trolled most of the day with no luck. Only caught 1 fish while trolling. Seen a bunch of small Crappie being caught but none that was any size. Triton LB, I think i seen you out there. Was you in the Triton with the Johnson 150?

Heres the only one we caught.

Skeeter---

I was in a chrome/red Triton w/ 200 E-tec..... That's a nice looking fish. The "deep" bite seemed really slow, I think there were a few shallow fish that would have bit b/c we fished a SMALL section of the standing timber to the right of the ramp and Steve caught his spinnerbait fish (5lb) and I lost another big fish on a jig...... That was during our last hour, wished I could have stayed longer....

Yeah we fished some of the standing timber over near the old road bed. Didnt have no luck though. I know which Triton was you now. We was in the Red/Yellow/White Ranger 519VX with the Yammie on it.

I was going to ask you if you were in the Ranger but your name "Skeeter" through me off..... I was suprised at how many boats showed up today even though/holliday I still didn't expect that many boats, but as I said I haven't fished there in a LONG time so that may be a regular size crowd for the 1st day of the month....

LB.............I fish RM a lot, and if you want some pointers about Heath and Antioch, I will be willing to share what I know about them.

How often do you fish RM??

nwgabass---

I dont fish the lakes often, as I said I haven't been to Heath Lake in years..... The only reason I go down to Antioch is to either help someone work on the Drop-shot or spoon bites b/c Antioch Lake has always been an easy place to catch fish vertically.... I'm sure there's plenty of ways to catch fish on both lakes but w/ the clear deep water it's a good lake to practice vertical fishing w/ electronics... Good Fishing
