Went to Heath Lake at Rocky Mtn. PFA yesterday. We ended up catching 5 fish for about 15 lbs. We caught one on a suspending jerkbait along a point and the rest came off of one spot in deeper water. The big fish went 5.5 lbs and was caught on a carolina rigged fluke. We threw in the towel after about six hours of battling the wind and cold weather. Below are some pics.

We hit E. Antioch and Heath yesterday as well, started at Antioch w/ 3 fish early on JBs and CBs. After those, nothing til lunch. We pulled out at 12 and went to heath, battled the wind there for a few hours with no fish. We tried SB, JB, CB, and a few plastics. Overall the fishing wasn't any good, nice to be back on the water.

Yup, the wind was terrible out there. Josh and I were out there from 12:45ish to around 2:30 and we didn't sniff a bite. I am hoping, though, that come this weekend, that I can find someone that will wanna go, and we can do some good. ;)

We did manage 3 small fish on E. Antioch.

It looks like you guys were cold. Anyway, good fish can't complain about a 15lb bag no matter how cold it was.

dawg that point over your left shoulder has some heavy brush on and is usually loaded with fish. Crappie and bass.
Nice fish you got there too.

Great report. I can tell by the looks of the water surface in the second pic that you did in fact have to fight some winds.

What and where is Health lake and Rocky Mtn? I here discussion all the time but have no clue where you guys are.

LL Heath Lake is part of the Rocky Mountain Public Fishing Area. It is located about 5 miles west of Hwy. 27 in Armuchee,GA. Heath is what we that fish it call the "trophy lake" It is only open on the first 10 days of the month and is managed for trophy bass. It is also filled with decent crappie, bluegill and shellcracker. They also have stocked the lake with hybrids and channel catfish. Heath is part of a system that is similar to Racoon Mtn. They pump water to the top of a mountain then let it fall back through turbines to generate electricity. Heath Lake is a little over 200 acres and has some great fish features, shallow, deep, stumps, dropoffs, channels and several manmade fish attractors. $3 parking pass allows you to fish from legal sunrise to legal sunset. Gas motors of any size are allowed but only at idle speed. Best of all is no jetskis are allowed and although there are some pleasure boats on occaision they have to abide by the idle speed rules too.

There are two other lakes that are part of Rocky Mtn. PFA. They are Antioch East and Antioch West. One is about 200 acres and the other is about 300 acres. Fishing, camping, swimming and picknicking are allowed at these lakes all year long. Antioch east and west lakes are some great crappie and panfish lakes and have some fair channel cats too. The photo in my avatar is a 19 pound channel that came from the east lake last year.
I kept my freezer full from these lakes from '03 through '05. They are full of fish and pretty easy to catch.

You must have a valid GA fishing lisence and all the normal safety stuff on your boat. No alchohol is allowed and is enforced. The facility is run by the Georgia DNR in cooperation with Oglethorpe Power. Needless to say the place is crawling with game wardens but in the hundreds of times I have been they have always been real nice to me even when I stayed 45 minutes past sunset and was the only one on the lake.(just can't leave biting crappie you know).
The ranger just told me to get my boat tied down and get out so he could go home before his wife chewed him out.
PM me if you want to go sometime. I can put you on some panfish in any of the 3 lakes.
