Ok,so I am excited about fishing Saturday and I am already checking my reals, rods lures and such. Well I have 1 castaway rod 7 foot medium and just felt great for a crankbait rod. I have never caught a fish on this rod and now I never will.emoBang I was pulling the line(of course the rod was bending) but not very much at all, then it just snapped in half !!! You could imagine my suprise!! It felt like such a good rod too!! So, what should I look for in a crankin rod?? Any suggestion?emoVomit

I've read in the last couple of weeks that there are pros out there who use a 7' medium action Ugly Stick. Seems it has a good parabolic action for cranking. $39.95.

I wanted fiberglass so I asked for one of these for Christmas...

I've only used it a few times and I like it thus far, yet to haul in a hog on it though. Hopefully I will this summer when they push deep. I'm gonna try it with a trap soon and see how the action is.

Those are nice! I also like the regular crankin rods they have( looks good). The castaway I broke was one of their lower end rods. So I'm not that upset, but I did like the feel of it. I may have to go ahead and sell some of my reels I was saving for the CFF yardsale. I don't have the money to buy a rod at this moment.

I bought a $19 berkley cherrywood last night at walmart. 7.0' medium action. I thought it looked really good for the price. I normally buy the BPS GS series rods for $19. I have broken too many rods and my stuff gets beat up when I transport it in the back of my truck ( I have no boat currently). So I cant stomach paying alot for my rods.

I am a real stickler for having good quality gear. I needed a rod to give to my son so I went to Wally-World and got one of the Berkley Bionix (sp) rods. Man that feel and action of that rod was just too perfect for me. I kept it for myself, "Sorry Son." I did however go to Dick's and bought him two Very nice Daiwa spinning combos that were on sale. That way I do not feel so bad. All's well that ends well.

For $50.00, I strongly recommend that you check out that Berkley Bionix rod. I can not believe the quality of the components and the great feel of that rod for that price.

I actually own 2 cherrywood rods. Granted they are both crappie rods (5'6" and 5') but they have great feel. Berkley makes some great rods in my opinion.
