Rod Building Experiments

All this talk about custom rod building got me excited about my next build so I decided to do a little experiment. I want to do a collegic rod (Auburn) using either a marbled epoxy finish in tiger stripes or do an actual Tiger wrap. I didn’t have size A thread to do a proper Tiger wrap but did have D. The D still looks ok I guess but it doesn’t quiet have the pop that smaller thread would have given it. What do you guys think, which one do you like?

The first is a real tiger wrap.

The second is a marbled "tiger" epoxy

The third is a more traditional orange/black marble.

Funny that you mention DR's site, as I have several rods built by DR. He is extremely nice guy and very help when it comes to blank selecion. His marbling is top notch. Early today, I pm-ed minner and also gave him a link to DR's website. Great minds think alike, haha.

Ive E- mailed him with some guide questions and he went out of his way to exsplain anything I wanted to know in no short order.., Very nice guy said if I ever need anything or questions just let him know... top notch
