On my boat the rod lockers I have the ball attached in the middle right below the hinge inside the box. There is no ball mount on the lid itself and I can't see where it was attached. I ordered the mount for the lid but before I get the shock or strut I wanted to ask. I wan't sure what length would be best the two sides vary little. I know it has to fit leaving room for the lid to close over the seals. I have seen some pics where they are mounted vertical and some on an angle. Does that matter? Most pics have them at the ends of the locker. So trying to determine the best route to go. Should I move the mounts or just use them where they are?
