Anyone fished it? It looks great on the map and an easy jump from B&B Marina. Usually we run downriver from the 58 bridge towards the Tennessee but for next Saturday we are planning to check out areas upstream on the Hiwassee.

Jason, Roger's creek can be really good at times the problem is that it gets ALOT of pressure. If you decide to try it start at the point on the right going into the creek by the daymarker. There is alot of stumps on that point. Also when you get into the creek cut back to the left going in ,that bank is really deep all the way to the end where there is another point.
Back in the winter when the water was down I drove around to the back where the bridge is and took some pictures(that I can't find now) there are a ton of stumps back there on the left on a big flat close to the creek channel that should be good now. be carefull if you go back in there because it is very shallow and there are alot of ways to destroy a lower unit in there.
Also in the very back before you get to the bridge there is an old launch ramp
and just out from it you will see a few white poles sticking out of the water.
every one of those poles marks a big stump and the creek channel. If I remember right there is a big stump flat behind those poles going up into shallower water on the opposite bank from the ramp.
Good luck and tell me how you do!I may go back in there Mon. night and check it out too!

Thanks for the tips. I fished that stumpy point going in a couple years ago and caught several nice spots during the "Mad Man" craw craze. After bombing in Gunstocker, we began looking at the map for similar areas with deeper water. The bass are definitely relating to grass, but barometric pressure (my opinion) determines at what depth they will be holding. I don't think the thermocline is much of a factor on the river.

If I'm reading my fishfinder right the thermocline has been really shallow pretty much everywhere.
I just talked with my partner, doesn't sound too eager to fish the the tourney
with all the rain on the way so looks like I'll have to wait on the Roger's creek
thing for a few days.

Is Candie's Creek the one that leads to what some call "Stump City"?

The spot we fished yesterday was on the backside of Hiwassee Island. The Tennessee splits and the channel runs across the back of it. The curved bank prior to the first green channel marker has a weed bed in the 15 to 20 foot range with current. All the bass we caught were suspended above it or on the outside edge. When you get past the channel marker, the current really picks up and makes it difficult to do anything but make quick pitches to the laydowns on the bank. The fish were aggressive from 2:00 to 5:00 and then it was like someone flipped the "off" switch until 9.

I have never been to Rogers creek but it does look inviting. If I were fishing there for the first time I would be sure to hit a couple of places for sure, grass or no grass. Of course like ranman said, the up river point looks good but as you head back following the creek channel, there are a couple of switchbacks in the channel that I would fish if there was a bunch of bait there. There are some nice looking ditches out there too. The places that look most inviting to me however is where the channel sweeps accross the end of a couple of points 1/2 to 2/3 the way back to the bridge. One good swing of the channel is closer to the bridge maybe 5/6 of the way back to the bridge and it looks to be the best spot to me as on an outside bend of the channel. If there are laydowns or grass at that point, I would bet that there would be fish there. There is also a submerged island that is on an outside bend of the channel and if there is brush or grass on that hump I would bet that it would hold fish. Just looking at the maps that's where in the creek I would start. The Ledford Island area out on the main channel looks good too. If there is grass there where the current goes right past, I would expect fish there just like you found out at Hiwassee Island. Let me know if you get onto them. I love to explore new water too!

I fished in that area for the first time this past Sat. My partner said we were at the mouth of Rogers Creek and we fished down the left bank a little ways with scant results.Guess we should've explored further in and looked ror the stump beds.We left there and went down into the refuge a mile or so past the 58 bridge and trolled into a shallow slough and thru the back of it into a much larger slough it was connected to.We found a "channel" in it about 5' deep and towards the back there was an area with a dozen or so stick-ups/brushpiles spaced a boat length or two apart. I caught a 2-2.5lb fish on buzzbait coming over the the thickest part of a brushpile and repeated that on 2 more. Caught several smaller fish on the stickups and missed a couple of other "good-uns". That spot saved the day as all we managed before that fishing several deeper drops along the channel (marking good fish) was a big crappie I got on a deep running crankbait.Go figure.JC1

JC1, is that the spot where crappie fisherman dumped a bunch of Christmas trees? If so, the point to the right is covered with large rocks on out to about 8 feet. We usually pick up a couple of spots there and on the tip of that deadfall.

Jason- It very well could be.I'm not very familiar with area and came out of the back of one slough into that one and didn't notice a point. I'll look next time I get back there. JC1

JC1, after re-reading your post I believe we are talking about two different locations. The area I'm talking about is downriver of the bridge and on the left in the bay with the springs. This little cove is just before the bluff that is on the left side of the channel.
