Two folks who said they wanted to fish with me today changed their mind so I got to do a "peace of mind" solo trip.

Messed around and got to lake about 8:30 or 9. Wolftever Creek was MUDDY! It'll clear up quickly however with so much flow in river. I caught three crappie in the creek but all were short.

Headed out on lake to find clear water and fish some docks. Somebody was already fishing the first two docks I went to. Fished a road bed and a bluff... nada.

Catfished at Harrison Bluff for 30 minutes... one hookup but the fish came off. Changed locations to a hump I suspected would be good with the heavy flow. It was... got bit in a hurry... caught two, biggest 15 lbs... and missed several little fish in a 45 minute sit.

Left there and crappie fished three boat docks. Caught several, mostly small. Had five keeper crappie (two 13-inchers) and a spotted bass. Probably caught about ten short fish. All on 32nd oz. blue/white Fin-S.

Tried trolling a while in Chester Frost... I caught five crappie in one run, unfortunately all were short.

Barring any extreme cold snaps, I think the pre-spawn crappie bite is close.

If you had something holding you up by the lip, you would be wild eyed too, Tommy. Richard, what are you talking about? A cold snap? We haven't had any winter yet. These fish must not know whether to move or go blind. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Thanks for sharing your trip with us Richard. emoThumbsup
