Wolftever Creek has been "berry, berry good to me" this week. On Saturday I believe it was good to everyone. Boats in there so thick you couldn't stir 'em with a stick. But so were the crappie. I think everyone carried home a limit... that is after they culled through about 2 million short fish. It was obscene how many 9-inch fish were stacked in there.

Me and David Tomlin culled through about 200 to get 30 big quality keepers. Shhh! I was using a secret lure. emoSorry I can't tell you what it was (but I can show you emoBigsmile ).

Today was a VERY different story. I have no idea how a million short crappie disappeared overnight, but they did. I thought my Humminbird was broken, showing me absolutely no fish. Most of the short fish were gone, gone, gone. I don't think I've ever seen that many fish do such a disappearing act overnight. Only thing I can figure is that they all pretended they were salmon and swam upstream to Savannah Bay???

However we still managed 28 keepers this morning for Big Rick and Little Rick Penland (we culled several 10-inch squeakers). Tomorrow is another day.

You keep catching and I keep clapping! emoBigsmile

I almost came to Wolftever creek today, but we had such good success on the river, that I thought better of it. Now I know that it was a good decision. I love it when you catch so many 9" fish. That means that next year those fish will be 11.5-12" long and we should have another banner year. We caught all our fish today with one rod in hand. emoPoke emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I know we caught about 40 9" fish yesterday but my daughter had a blast running back and forth reeling in boards with fish on.
