Saturday was one of my favorite guide trips of the year.

An annual "Kids Fishing Day" when Sam Simons (a.k.a. shsimons, known as 'The Fishing Teacher') takes several of his highest-performing students and rewards them with a fishing trip. This year's trip was sponsored by Karen Stoops Booher, Sam's mother-in-law in memory of Sam's father, Ron Simons.

Sam's favorite days on the water were spent with his Dad. There is no doubt that Ron was especially proud of his son for sharing his love of fishing with special kids like the youngsters hosted Saturday. No doubt Ron was watching, and helping, as Erin, Addison, Gavin and Destin were blessed with a beautiful day and LOTS of cooperative fish.

Sam and I first met many years ago when I was privileged to help him out with one of his annual 'Kids Trips.' I only met Ron a couple of times, but I know, based on the caring and dedication of his son, he was a very good man with a very big heart! (Last photo is Sam and his Dad.)

Hate to hear Sams dad passed! Yeah I remember the first time I had ever heard of the fishing forum was years ago when I ran into Sam below the dam and he asked me if I was a member. I Went and watched some of his youtube stuff and can remember seeing his dad in some of the vids reeling in huge fish token on a big ole cigar! It was awesome! It is great that you guys get to do what you love!
