Ed McIntire (CFF's edmac) and his son, Jay, were planning on going trout fishing in upper East Tennessee, but heavy rains blew out their trout waters. So they opted for a Thursday catfishing trip with me while Jay is home from the University of Arkansas (Yea, he's a Razorback ).
We knew the wind was going to blow, and I was worried. A hard upriver wind wreaks havoc with my favorite "drift technique." But we battled through the wind and the cats didn't seemed to care. It was an excellent morning. 26 cats came to the boat in just about three hours... topped by 20 and 25 lbers. (battled on light tackle). We finished out our morning hammering some bluegill. The spawn is slowing and we didn't catch a huge number of big guys, but the BG's were plentiful.
It was a great day with a great CFF'er, and that means life is good and gettin' better every day!
