A while ago back Brandon Calvery (CFF's calveryc) posted that he was looking for "a memorable trip for visiting father." I was honored when Brandon picked me. emoThanks
Today was the day. Brandon and his Dad, Allen, did good picking a day with some awesome weather. The fishing could have been better, but could have been worse. In all honesty it was basically an average August catfishing day in the Chickamauga Tailwaters. We didn't start until 10 am... waiting for TVA generation schedules to pick up. We (or I) should have waited later because the fishing didn't really kick in until flow picked up between Noon and 1.
We put about 20 solid cats in the boat, all on my favorite "light tackle drift." The biggest two fish weighed in at 12 and 13 lbs. On standard spinning tackle those size fish are lots of fun. Allen caught the big one, BTW. But I must say that Allen also executed a few outstanding "long line releases" which dropped our count a little. emoDoh No angler error involved... he just managed to hook a few good escape artists apparently.
Allen is visiting from Texas and has done a lot of hunting and fishing in his 75 years. I got to hear some good stories and I'm betting some of them were even true. emoBigsmile It was a great day on the water with some fine folks... an honor to get to fish with yet another CFF'er. Thanks Brandon. That means life is good and gettin' better every day.
