I just got a new (to me) boat that has almost all of the rub rail/bumper stripping gone. Anybody know someplace in town that sells that stuff?

Thank you for the help,
Kendal

Thanks, brushhog. It seems like I need to order it from out of town and watch some youtube videos on installation.

Thank you for taking time to reply,
Kendal

Easy to do it yourself install but it's a lot of screws to turn. Also a little bit of warm soapy water helps to get the outer rub rail in place.

Thanks, vhype, on the soap advice.

Do I cut the rubber into two separate pieces, one for each side, or is it one continuous strip? It seems that an extremely sharp turn for rubber and the front of the boat.

Thanks again,
Kendal

Never have done it on a boat, but I would want it one piece. I'm sure someone will know the correct answer, but I would think you might be able to cut the inside of the rubber at the point so that it will fall into place. Cut kind of a wedge on back side. Not sure this is how its done but maybe an idea.

That makes a lot of sense, bwntn. I would definitely prefer a seamless piece of rubber.

Any idea on the glue holding rubber strips to an aluminum boat?

Paul Nichols - 12/25/2011 9:05 PM I have a complete rubrail kit for a 20' bassboat, if your interested I'll take $125 for it. Thanks, Paul

If this will work on your boat, it is a great buy! I gave about $230.00 for new rub rail last year from Great Lakes Skipper.com. Shoot me a PM about instillation.I wouldn't cut anything!!! The rubber will shrink& stretch in the winter& summer& it will tear over time if you cut it.</p>

I'll have to measure it when I go to my shop, it goes on a 20' Bullet boat (maybe about 1.25''-1.50'' wide). What kind of boat do you have?

Paul

I have an aluminum g3 17'5". I am afraid that the base of the strip for my boat is only 5/8" to 3/4".

Paul, If you still have this rub rail for the 20ft. bullit i will take it. I will call the shop in the morning around 9:00 in the morning. Thanks, smokercraft
