Rut Prediction

Looking to see when you guys think the rut will start this year. Im still new to the area, first season up here as Im used to North FL and south GA. Im hearing around Thanksgiving we should start seeing some good activity.

What are your thoughts?

Chasing should start mid-November. Pretty good activity Nov. 20- first of december.

Really depends on weather, temps, and moon.

Nov. 24 was the peak day last year IMO

Frazier said it, should be about 2nd or third full week in November but it is always a weather game. As long as it is cold enough it should happen. Last year the mountain areas started sooner, like the second weekend and this area was the third or forth weekend. emoSmile Jmax

If the night time temperatures will drop down in the 40's the first week of Muzzle loader should be some good hunting.

Thanks Guys, Im glad its happening early. I say early since Im used to FL/ GA being so late around Christmas/ New Years time frame. Man, Ill be out of town for Thanksgiving and might have to cut the 4 day weekend short and get back to the woods.

It varies on where you are. Last year out on Cagle Mtn the rut was on full force during the first week of Black powder season. I never could tell of any substantial activity after that time. A friend in N GA stated he was seeing activity in early to mid December.
