Guessing its the Turkey hunting incident in Minnesota without clicking on the link. Very sad indeed.

Thanks for posting it Richard, I saw it and was trying to decide wether to post my thoughts on it. I just cant help but to comment on it.

This was no accident, it was serious child neglect and manslaughter. There is absolutly ZERO justification for telling a 9yr old child to "stay put" while turkey hunting.

Then take into account that every spring turkey season in the country is a gobbler-only, or in some states a bearded-turkey only requirment. How can you justify shooting at "movement" in such a season?

This man obviously didn't care about the most basic hunting rules, "IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET", and then takes a small child into the woods and ignores all basic child guardianship common sense.

It is of no solace to me that this man will now suffer for the rest of his life by the tragic loss of his son, a child is gone.

Lord help this family.

We've read stories like this our whole lives and it never ceases to amaze me at the stupidity of people that are normally very safe hunters. One guy up there last year shot a guy in the top of his head while he walked under his tree stand. And for those of you that have hunted in the midwest, you are required to wear blaze orange and a LOT of it. The guy had a orange vest on and a ORANGE baseball style hat on! How many people have to die before people realize that shooting at movement or blindly at something rustling in the woods is as dumb as dumb gets? A gut wrenching piece Richard. I don't want any game so badly to shoot blindly. Never have and never will. I can't help but agree with every sentiment that Spur has shared. That is gross negligence at its highest level. Your own son and you are shooting at movement? Unbelievable.... How could you look at yourself in the mirror after such a foolish act? Much less face your family...

I agree that is crazy!!! You never just shoot at something moving and why in the world would you tell a nine year old kid to stay put? I have got 4 kids... 3 boys and a girl. the oldest one is 10 and he hunts with me all the time and i would never consider telling him to stay put while i went after something. Thats just crazy.. That just about makes a man feel like second guessing hunting with idiots like that out in the woods!!!

human stupidity knows no bounds
terrible thing to happen
my prayers go out to his family
unfortunately this is the kind of thing the anti-hunting movement loves to exploit

After asking myself "How could a father be that STUPID?", I can understand why the cops are still investigating.

Now they say the guy had a blood alcohol level of 0.06 and marijuana in his system..... So to all you morons that like to get drunk, burn one and then take your kid hunting dont!...........emoAngry emoMad
