That is just stupid. I remember my shop teacher in high school chewing me out for not having a pocket knife one day!

That is what happens when you remove God from everything. Only going to get worse until we ask for forgiveness.

Sad situation. But it happened here a couple of weeks ago when a kid at East Ridge (I think it was) had a pocket knife in his car. A couple years back, a young lady that was 18, ready to graduate, had a BUTTER knife that her mom had given her, along with other silverware, in the hatch of her car. She was moving to a dorm room and her mom had given her some items to get her started. They charged her with a felony too! I find this interesting, and I am sure a lot of people don't know it, but once someone is arrested, even if proven NOT guilty, the arrest remains a matter of record. When that person is stopped, has any type of run in with law enforcement, that arrest has bearing on how they are treated. In Federal Court, the arrest, even if proven innocent, counts against the person, according to their point system. Not a conviction, just the arrest itself! In addition, law enforcement is trying to make it mandatory that anyone arrested for even a minor crime, to have to submit a DNA sample. So the old saying "innocent until proven guilty" isn't as true as it used to be. We are headed for a police state folks.

A friend of mine is an attorney in KY. He had a 19 yr. old client that was arrested for possession of less than 4 ounce s of pot. That's all they found when they searched his house. He also had a shotgun that was a family hand-me-down, so they charge him also with a firearms violation. A misdemeanor with 11/29 sentence if convicted. The DA revised the charges to possession *over 8 ounces* plus the weapons charge. A felony with 10/15 yrs sentence if convicted. I asked him how they could do that, and he told me they always over-charge and use that as leverage to get a plea.
