Sauger? Any showing up!

I haven't heard a peep about sauger showing up below the chick. I have heard of a few being caught below the nick.

It always seems that the info about the sauger is always slow getting to the forum. I would expect with the water being in the low 50's that someone is catching sauger, so I would expect that some of the slow pace of info on them is by design. It seems that a large percentage of the sauger are caught by a very small number of people and I think that they are pretty tight lipped. I think that the areas that the sauger stack up in are small and pretty consistent from year to year, maybe I'm wrong. As good as those fish are to eat, if I were catching them I would be tempted to keep quiet about it too.

The other day while Fat Albert and I was up at Watts Bar, there was a pontoon boat anchored in a place that yields sauger in numbers at this time of year. Didn't see them catch anything as we didn't drift down that low, but they stayed there nearly the entire time that we fished. They must have been catching something.

Doesn't get any better than walleye, so I'm sure the sauger can't be far behind if not better in taste.

I've never eaten a walleye, but I'll tell ya, sauger are FINE!
