Sauger bite was slow yesterday. Had wanted to catfish, but quickly changed my mind, when my stomach started growling :)

Fished Several different depths, 35 to 55 feet. Located plenty of "fish" and bait on the graph. Most activity seemed to be around 51 feet. My boat didn't manage any sauger, and the boats around us didn't manage much either. We were jigging CC Cordell Spoons, and a variety of different color hair jigs tipped with minnows.

Luckily two nice fellas offered me a few sauger for dinner... two fat 15 inchers, teamed with fries, slaw and sweet tea they were mighty tasty.

Good luck everyone,
Brandon

Were they catching the sauger in 35 to 55ft of water? WOW! That seems very deep...have you caught alot of fish in the past at that depth?...most of my fish come in the 10 to 15 feet of water range in the winter.

Slo-Ride,

We were just above the Paint Rock.

In our part of the river, in December and January, before the main push for sauger up the dam, the sauger will hold in major dredge holes in 40+ feet of water.

Reports out of the local tackle shop, are saying that they are being caught in their best numbers in LARGE dredge holes as deep as 80 feet. That is truely amazing to me.

I'll wait til Feb for them to run to G'ville dam.
