i have a redhead muzzle loader scope laying around and was wondering if there is a difference between it and a regular rifle scope? seems to me they as long as i can sight it in it should be fine to put on a rifle. whats yalls thoughts?

Unless I'm wrong, which is highly possible, rifle scopes are set to be parallax free at 100yds, whereas older muzzleloader scopes are normally set to 50 - 75 yards. Nearly all quality scopes these days are parallax free at 100yds, regardless whether rifle, muzzy or shotgun.

I think the muzzleloader scope is made to handle more shock. At least I think I read that somewhere once.

Most times they are designed for more eye relief due to recoil on modern muzzleloaders. Parallax should be at least 75 yards, possibly 100 if its a 3x9 power range. It will certainly work for most hunting applications around here on a center fire rifle.
