I got my 1198 installed friday by Jeff Reed, he did an awesome job. I will post pics as soon as I get a chance. Do I have to do anything to a new SD card before using it in my 1198.

Try a screen snapshot if it works you don't need to do anything. If it doesn't work use a digital camera to format it.

I formatted it with my computer, I went out today and snapshot didnt work so I guess I need to stick it in a camera. Also the depths werent on my mapping from navionics. The contour lines were there but no depths at all

Did you turn Screen Snapshot Feature on? In accessories menu. Also what is the brand and model of SD Card. I've seen alot of differences in brands.

Contour Line Numbers are on the map card.

it is a sandisk 4 gig sdhc card. The depths were of concern to me, I was afraid I got a bad navionics card. I have been having problems with the navionics pc program and maybe it screwed it up when I updated the card? Its a little frustrating to go through so much time and expense to get this in and it not work right for me. I am displeased with navionics right now I have been talking with customer service with no help whatsoever.

Sandisk is the best I've found. I use the Extreme III Cards for best and fastest performance.

Not much help on Navionics. I use them where I don't have coverage with LakeMaster product. Mine are all older than 2010 Models not updateable.

From what Ive seen lakemaster is better in my opinion, Doug would know a lot more than I would. Lakemaster isnt out for Tennessee if that is where you fish.

Doug, I enabled snapshot and it still wont recognize my memory card. I have formatted it on my computer and put it in my camera and it works, what is the chance that I have a bad memory slot, it wouldnt read my maps on the right side the other day either?

Not trying to steal the thread, but which is best - Navionics or Lakemaster?

Where LakeMaster has coverage they are hard to beat for details and accuracy. LakeMaster is growing and just released their first Alabama, Florida, Georgia region card. They have some great details on many lakes plus includes coastal coverage too if you fish both you only need one card. It also has many exclusive features to control the map data and customize it on your Humminbird: http://youtu.be/QaVqoLeJeeM

I would check coverage area at www.lakemaps.com for LakeMaster lake listings. They will be growing and adding more lakes and more details with each release.

That card reader could need a look at. Does the other reader slot work?

You can also try restoring defaults sometimes they need to be reset and makes it all work again. If that does not help I would call Humminbird 800-633-1468 and they can get you fixed up.
